I was walking home from skool the other day, listening to music and thinking about nothing in particular, when I happened upon a Kia. Now usually when this kind of thing happens, I'm apt just to kick it, admire the dent for a second and then mosey on. But this time I couldn't even muster up a kick.

Alberta plates. That is Important Point #1. The bumper sticker, positioned not on the bumper, but on the back window, offering support for "Bush/Cheney 04," is Important Point #2.

Barring the fact that the owner has dual citizenship, and even so, I was somewhat surprised to see this sticker, especially in the last left-wing stronghold of Edmonton, the Whyte ave area. On top of that issue is the WMD lies, 'enemy combatants' and the stomping of the Geneva Conventions, drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR)and a host of other highly questionable tactics imposed by the current administration.

So I stared, silent, and wondered where this world will be if we get another 4 years of terror alerts, racial profiling and Patriot Act II. Is this progress, this intolerance?

And thus, I walked on, my mind a jumbled mess of socially responsible thoughts, as the snow crunched beneath my tired feet...
